End of Tenancy Cleaning Checklist (UK): Get Your Deposit Back

Moving out and want your full deposit back? A thorough end-of-tenancy clean is one of the biggest factors in a smooth check-out. This checklist walks through what letting agents and landlords look for, room by room, and shows where my cleanerHUB can take the whole job off your hands.

Why end-of-tenancy cleaning matters

Cleaning is one of the most common reasons for deposit deductions in the UK. Inventory clerks check against the condition at move-in, so the goal is to return the property clean to a professional standard. Give yourself time, work top to bottom, and don't leave the oven to last.

Kitchen

• Clean inside, outside and on top of the oven, including racks and glass door
• Degrease the hob, extractor and splashback
• Clean inside the fridge, freezer (defrosted) and microwave
• Wipe down all cupboards inside and out
• Descale the sink and taps; clean tiles and grout
• Clean the washing machine drawer, seal and filter

Bathrooms

• Descale and sanitise the toilet, bath, basin and shower
• Remove limescale from taps, screens and tiles
• Polish mirrors and glass
• Clean extractor fans and wipe skirting

Living areas & bedrooms

• Dust and wipe all surfaces, shelves, skirting and sills
• Clean inside wardrobes and drawers
• Clean windows internally, frames and sills
• Vacuum carpets and mop hard floors throughout
• Remove cobwebs and wipe light switches and sockets

Don't forget

• Doors, handles and the tops of door frames
• Radiators and behind furniture
• Bins cleaned and emptied
• Any marks on walls spot-cleaned
